ZEAN is a well-established agro-processing company. ZEAN started as a provider of banana grocery services and maize crop trader. In January 2019, ZEAN transitioned into agro-processing in order to fulfill its mission of ensuring food security for the country by reducing post-harvest and harvest losses through the processing of bananas into chips and processing maize into flour.
Market Opportunity/ Problem
Banana fruit is a horticultural commodity that can be processed into chips and preserved to expand its marketing value. The market for ZEAN banana chips is not only Rwanda’s domestic market through supermarkets and food distributors, but also regional and international markets.
