Description

WamiAgro is an Agro-based social enterprise that seeks to solve challenges faced by smallholder farmers through the application of new-age technologies to provide information, markets, input, and credit.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

Nearly one in ten people worldwide are facing malnourishment, with the majority living in Asia and Africa. Sub-Saharan Africa has a quarter of the world’s arable land but only produces 10% of its agricultural output. This is due to several factors such as inadequate investment/ financial services, difficult access to the market, inadequate Agric extension services, and low productivity. WamiAgro uses a multi-approach solution of existing offline social infrastructure and digital technology solutions to effectively solve problems faced by smallholder farmers by working with Farmer Based Groups, creating B2B market linkages, providing input credit, and teaching sustainable agricultural practices.
