Viphya chambo produces table size fish and fingerlings. The company is on an offtake arrangement with smallholder farmers. The smallholder farmers are supplied with mono-sexed fingerlings and the company offtakes fish at harvest.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

Malawi faces a large scarcity of fish due to dwindling catches in lake Malawi, therefore aquaculture provides the alternative. Government is encouraging the growth of the aquaculture sub-sector to address the fish protein scarcity. The company has engaged smallholder fish farmers in an offtake arrangement to increase production.
