SHARE Africa Zambia (SAZ)
Description
SHARE Africa Zambia (SAZ) is a locally registered company working with some of the most impoverished farmers in Zambia through value addition. The company produces instant soya porridge, corn soya blend, and peanut butter under the Share Africa Zambia brand. In addition, the organization implements projects and programs aimed at promoting economic growth in rural farmlands and suburban townships by ensuring that all profits are shared fairly across the supply chain (i.e., with producers, sellers, and consumers).
Market Opportunity/ Problem
School feeding programs have created a demand for corn soya blend, which is fortified and highly nutritious feed. The current demand stands at 50 tons per month (locally), against the company’s current production capacity of 5 tons due to inadequate raw materials and low machinery production capacity. In addition, the product has got a readily available export market in Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo with the potential of expansion to more territories in the region.
