Description

Rio Fish is a social enterprise providing sustainable livelihoods and increasing food security by strengthening aquaculture market systems in Lake Victoria.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

Many small-scale farmers do not make profits due to inefficient operations, poor quality inputs & aquaculture practices, and lack of sound financial management. The lack of a structured market for the fish, poor physical infrastructure & inadequate cold chain facilities hinders the market. As a result, demand and supply cannot be effectively matched, causing shortages, post-harvest loss, and price disparities. Rio Fish addresses all these issues and creates an efficient market.
