Nyabon Enterprises Limited is a Kenyan company founded in March 2014. The company’s vision is to achieve smart agriculture for smallholder farmers in Africa by providing appropriate farm mechanization solutions to smallholder farmers. Currently, the company is in partnerships with original equipment manufacturers from India and the US for low/ high HP tractors and implements, offering a wide range of agri-equipment. The company’s primary operations are currently focused in the Lake Region and Kirinyaga counties. The company has ambitions to extend their footprint to the rest of the country and East Africa as they scale up operations.
Market Opportunity/ Problem
Nyabon addresses four major obstacles faced by smallholders: 1. It provides packaged farm mechanization solutions and services targeted at specific crop value chains. Sales of the equipment that constitute its mechanisation solutions are underpinned by a strong after-sales support capability already in place. 2. It provides financing needed for farm inputs and equipment sales, and other working capital needs. 3. It provides an interface/ linkage to market participants that purchase commodities. 4. It provides training to farmers and farmer organisations in the use of mechanized ag-equipment and climate smart agriculture.
