Description

M-shamba is an interactive platform that provides up-to-date information to farmers about the agricultural activities they undertake or wish to partake in, helps farmers manage their farms efficiently, and connects farmers and traders to potential markets using various mobile phone features.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

Most smallholder farmers in Kenya still grow crops that were introduced by the missionaries and colonialists. They grow these crops for subsistence purposes only. However, research institutions come up with better and improved crop varieties that are meant to help these farmers. In addition, these smallholder farmers experience numerous information gaps about the service providers around them, market access, and how to adapt to climate change.
