Description

Handz is a processor and exporter of coffee. It work with and gives support to smallholder coffee farmers in Uganda with the aim of increasing both the quality and quantity of the coffee they produce, thereby creating a sustainable supply chain to the company and to the export market.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

The coffee value chain, which has huge potential to turn around the livelihoods of many communities in Uganda, is grappling with many challenges including: poor production technics, exclusion from trade, lack of access to farm inputs, extension services and markets. Handz (U) Limited through its Village Entrepreneurship Model (VEP) is increasing access to training, inputs and good markets while ending exclusion by bringing into the value chain the formerly excluded groups like youth and women.
