Famatta’s Trading

Description

Famatta’s Trading is a 100% female owned company that has 150 acres of oil palm farmland which produces edible oil for the African ethnic markets in the following size containers: 1 to 3 litres, and 5 litres

Market Opportunity/ Problem

According to the company, the African food market is a trillion dollar market especially in the organic palm oil sector. Entry of Liberian palm oil and fresh frozen ethnic food such as salted cod in markets, competes with brands like Nino which is a processed oil that uses Sudan IV, a known carcinogen used as a additive for colour. Famatta’s oils does not use any artificial colourings or any other additives. Gaps in the market are currently being filled by imports from South America that do not have the same taste and the company intends to replace those with a speciality organic product.
