ESTEVAL
Description
ESTEVAL is an Agro-Food company specializing in the transformation of local fruits into juice, syrup and dried fruit. It contributes to the social and economic development of the country and even of Africa, but also to the consumption of local products through their transformation. ESTEVAL also participates in poverty reduction through the recruitment of its staff and the collaboration of some of its suppliers at the national level.
Market Opportunity/ Problem
The company wants to respond to the growing demand for healthy fruit juices and exotic products in West Africa and Europe. It creates added value to the economy of Senegal by using local produce and employees (64% women). SMEs like Esteval are critical to food safety, they have difficulty meeting their financing needs in order to expand and improve quality even further and to set a good example for other Senegalese or regional companies. That is the reason the USAID-funded Business Drivers for Food Safety program invited Esteval to be part of the Growing Food Businesses to support so that they can model food safety practices in the country.
