Description

Alito Joint Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative is involved in soybean seed multiplication, grain bulking, tractor hire services, and sunflower oil processing. In addition, it offers extension services to members, improved seeds, and other inputs and micro-loans for investment.

Market Opportunity/ Problem

With the increasing production and oilseeds being the major cash crop for the region, the cooperative is projecting to expand its processing of sunflower and soybean to create an alternative market channel for farmers and offer better prices. In addition, the growing coverage and production of oilseeds will require more quality seeds. As such, the cooperative is increasing the number of local seed producers from 150 to 250 to meet the growing demand for seed.
